I started my final tweets by going through the #39canimals explore page where I found some super interesting articles and tweets Yunhan Yang that talked about dog meat trade, and the cruelty that dogs face within that domain. I also really liked how Janelle Tan described the definition of speciesism. I thought they put it into really simple terms. I also really liked Some Tired Student's post about creating more awareness. I agree with what they said about things not realistically being changed over night, but yes, we can spread more awareness and participate in more active approaches! The second thing I did was follow a few new accounts... some of them were not related to the animal research topic. I am super into sports and I am on the women's volleyball team here at UCI, so I started following @UCIwvb, @UCIAthletics, and @ESPN. I am looking still in the process of becoming a vegan. I still eat meat, but I have been eating a lot less and have been staying away from red meat more and more. This being said, I starting following @veganfuture, @veganoutreach, and @TheVeganSociety, so I can stay updated on various aspects of the topic. The last accounts I started following are @AWF_Official, @WildlifeSOS, @MoveTheWorldUS, and @PETAUK so I can stay up to date on various areas across the world and how they are fighting, providing, and striving for better living conditions within the wildlife community. The last thing I did was my 10 tweets which was way less complicated than I made it out to be. I thought that I was going to sit at the computer for an hour because I was going to have to go through a bunch of information, but it was so easy to come up with things to write about. I even ran out of room on a lot of them and had to finish what I had to say in the linking tweets. Thank goodness we learned how to do those. I wrote about my interest in the bird video we watched (that was probably my favorite thing we went over in this class). I also got to write about various studies that I cited in my AP that had to do with desirable traits in dogs and what happens when dogs don't meet these desirable traits. I thought this week was a fun way to end the Twitter updates!
Overall, I will say I probably won't be using Twitter in the future because I don't love social media, but I thought it was awesome that we were able to find and share so much information on there. I have only used social media for personal reasons, so it was super fun to get to know the research areas that could be found on there. Now, I do think if I need to do research I might take a look at information related to my topic on social media just to see what is out there!
